October 4th Newsletter

October 04, 2013
By William Dupere

Dear BCS Parents,

The BCS Preschool Teacher of the Month, as chosen by our preschool parents for the month of October is K4 teacher Mrs. Beth Anne Ross.  Congratulation to Mrs. Ross and a big thank you to the many of you who nominated your favorite teachers. Your kind words are always comforting to me and our staff.

Marriage Workshop:  Berean Christian School and Grace Fellowship are collaborating on a marriage workshop on Friday, October 18th at 7:00PM in the Worship Center.  The presenter is Dr. David Dupere, yes, we are related.  David is one of three older brothers, and has a family counseling center in Ocala, Florida (www.flcsocala.com).  He sent the following overview as a precursor to the upcoming workshop. I am excited to be extending this workshop to our BCS family because I am sure that two of the most important institutions of our society, marriage and the family, are under constant negative attack and we as a Christian school and obedient church must take a stand.

"The workshop and upcoming book entitled, Hiding Ever Since the Garden, will seek to explore the psychological and relational consequences of the original sin in the garden. In particular, we will talk about the implications that confession has for recovering healthy function and healthy intimacy, but not confession as we normally think of it.  After a thorough word study of the original meaning of confession, we discover that confession does not really mean what we think it means.  Instead, it means much more!"

"We will also examine how this culture has shaped men to think and relate in ways that are contrary to the requirements for healthy marriage, and how healthy confession can restore them psychologically and relationally. The subtle message of the seminar will be, "Sorry men, you were lied to. It is not really your fault that you do not know how to build and maintain intimacy with your wives, but it is your problem!"  So, in a sense, we will be exploring how men can rediscover the potential for true intimacy with wives, as opposed to giving men another list of marriage behaviors to learn and practice. Actually, the seminar will seek to illustrate that healthy marital behaviors will naturally follow the pursuit of intimacy between husband and wife."

If you are interested in attending the workshop, please extend your preregistration to Paula Earnhardt at (561)333-4222, ext. 253 or email her at Paula_Earnhardt@gfwpb.org.  She will need your name, phone and email contact, and the number and age of children you will need childcare for.  This is the first of several events planned for the next year that will focus on strengthening our families. Please consider the importance of this to you and your family.  I truly hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity.

Security Fence:  The first phase of the new perimeter fence across the grass field and at the rear of the campus is now in place.  The second phase is a decorative aluminum fence that will link the buildings from the Preschool to the Gym.   That aluminum fencing is now in the fabrication and paint process.   We are expecting that to go into place in the next two weeks.  Please be reminded that once the entire fence is in place, all parents or guest entry during school hours will take place in the 200 lobby and all traffic to the rear of the campus will be halted.  I will keep you posted as we move through the installation process.

Volunteers are still needed for the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair.  If you are able to volunteer to work in the fair, scheduled from October 28th to November 1st, 2013 please contact Shelby Coleman at BCS 798-9300 extension 294 or email her at Shelby_Colman@bereanwpb.org. Your participation in this event is greatly needed and appreciated.
